How to enter
The method of entry is very simple.
You must start by reading the rules.
Next you must complete the electronic entry form, and you will receive an acknowledgement within three working days.
All you then have to do is write an electronic document of up to 5,000 words, in English, describing a project your city has recently undertaken which shows exceptional levels of leadership. This can be emailed directly to us at info@world-leadership-forum.org or sent on a CD to us at the address on the 'Contacts' page.
The judges are especially interested in projects which may inspire other cities facing similar problems.
You may add as many diagrams, charts or photographs to the document as you wish (data in the diagrams, charts or photographs will not be deducted from the 5,000 word total).
Where possible you should provide sources for your data, e.g. recent censuses, surveys, statistics, or other official reports or publications.
What happens if you are shortlisted?
The shortlist of between two and four cities in each category, will be published on this website during October 2008.

Your presentation can be made by a team of between one and five people who represent your city.
You can use a professional presenter if you wish to.
You are allowed to use recorded material, but you should aim to make the majority of your presentation live.
The presentation will last for a maximum of 30 minutes and it will be followed by 15 minutes of questions from the judges. When all of the presentations in your category have been completed, the judges will retire to choose a final winner.
Your team can watch the other presentations if they wish to, but may not question the other teams during the question and answer session.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on the evening of 12th December 2008.
As well as giving individual awards in fifteen different categories, the judges will also be declaring four cities to be City of the Year for their region:
African City of the Year
Asia-Pacific City of the Year
European City of the Year
American City of the Year
The winners of these four special titles will be chosen by the judges from the winners of the fifteen specialist categories
